Design of the Vesta Villa
The Vesta Villa was designed to reflect classical form and proportions, and to fully utilize the capabilities of the Voxeljet VX 4000 3D printer, which allows for the creation of sand molds in a volume up to 4 meters x 2 meters x 1 meter. Our design includes aluminum Doric columns with a height of 4 meters patterned on those of the Parthenon and a bronze doorway modelled on a classic design found on the campus of Columbia University, proportioned at 2 meters in width. The building features glass curtain walls and a white glass textile reinforced concrete (GTRC) and aluminum entablature..
